Container drivers in Kano have blocked all routes that linked to inland container dry pot located at Abdullahi Bayero Road, a situation that lead to heavy traffic in the metropolis.

Investigation by Radio Nigeria reveals that the driver’s took the decision in an attempt to protest for the sluggish attitude in the clearance of the containers they brought from Lagos port.

Malam Bala Isa and Yusif Musa were all drivers who had spent more than month with the containers they conveyed from Lagos to the dry pot and were yet to be cleared by customs and other officials of the inland container dry-pot, they said were in terrible situation with regards to the time they take on the cue.

During a visit by Radio Nigeria to the inland container, heavy armed police personnel were seen at the scene trying to dislodge the blockage made by the aggrieved drivers.

Our correspondent in Kano requested for clarification from the Deputy comptroller of customs M.M Gidado in-charge of the inland container dry-pot Kano but he declined to comment, also when contacted the public relations officer of customs Kano and Jigawa command Assistant superintendent Danbaba said customs has nothing to do with the issue.

He maintained that the issue was between owners of the goods and the Clearing agents.

Blockage Of roads that lead to the dry-pot was causing a lot of set back to the economic development of the state.
