Dr Tada gave the advice during a health talk and free kidney screening, in Abuja.

The program was organized by a Non Governmental Organization, Kidney Life Awareness Foundation, to provide support to patients in need of dialysis and transplant.

The Kidney Disease expert Dr Simon Tada explained that most Kidney failures were caused by diabetes, high blood pressure and poor dietary.

He maintained that routine kidney check, daily exercise, low sugar intake among other measures, would help prevent the disease.

Another Health expert Onovo Victory emphasized that Nigeria ranks 11th on cases of kidney disease n the world kidney index enumerated ways of maintaining a healthy kidney.

He said “engaging in frequent physical exercise is very healthy for the heart and kidney, avoid taking raw salt, go low on red meat, stop alcohol and most importantly drink whole lots of water”

The founder of the kidney Life Awareness Foundation, Mrs Ijeoma Okonwa explained her ordeal as a victim of kidney transplant, which motivated her to establish the center.

“I was diagnosed of kidney disease, I go for dialysis twice a day to remove the excess fluid in my body, I had swollen face, feet, I was vomiting, couldn’t eat. I was flawn abroad for transplant, it was not an easy experience to go through.”

Beneficiaries of the Free kidney screening expressed gratitude and called on other well meaning Nigerians to emulate such gesture.
