The need for Women groups in Katsina state to team up towards addressing challenges of malnutrition has been stressed.
This was part of the discussion during a one day workshop organised by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre CISLAC for Women groups in Katsina state.
The Organisers revealed that the available data indicated that Nigeria is among the twenty Countries that contribute up to Eighty per cent ( 80%) of Global Child Malnutrition cases.
They further stated that data from the Oxford Policy Management (OPM) on nutritional smart survey, Katsina state records 58.0% Stunting and 31.4% Underweight in 2018.
Chioma Kanu from CISLAC said one of the objectives of the training was to equipped Women groups on how to mobilise women to advocate for more Budget for nutrition.
While Olubunmi Aweda of the International Society of Media in public health stated that they are trying to sensitize the Youths to be using the social media platforms to be advocating for more budgetary allocations for nutrition.
Presently there are centres for the treatment of Severe Acute Malnutrition known as Community Management of Acute Malnutrition ( CMAM) some local government areas in Katsina state.
